Design and Characteristic Analysis of High Speed Doubly Salient Axial Electromagnetic Motor

 
 

This article designs a high speed doubly salient axial electromagnetic motor based on the requirements of high reliability, high power density, and large power capacity for aviation starting generators.

 

By changing the spatial position of the excitation winding of the traditional doubly salient motor, the magnetic circuit structure of the motor is changed. The axial magnetic circuit is formed by the magnetic shaft and the external magnetic back iron, which improves the asymmetric magnetic circuit structure of the traditional doubly salient electromagnetic motor caused by the concentrated distribution of the stator excitation winding. At the same time, the space of the original armature winding is increased, and the slot filling rate of the armature winding is increased. In addition, the concentrated winding of the excitation winding also saves copper wire, cost savings have been achieved.

The main content of this article is divided into three parts. Firstly, the development status of multi-electric aircraft aviation power supply was reviewed, and the commonly used generators for aviation power supply were introduced. Then, the structure and working principle of doubly salient axial electromagnetic motor were introduced, and a mathematical model of the motor was established. Next, analyze the no-load magnetic field of the motor, including no-load magnetic density, flux linkage, inductance, etc. Finally, the load characteristics of the motor were obtained by analyzing the power generation load situation.

 
The results of this article show that doubly salient axial electromagnetic motor has a completely symmetrical three-phase magnetic linkage which can output a more stable voltage. The motor has high space utilization of the winding, high power density and high efficiency which can meet the basic requirements of aviation power supply.
